36-year-old Egyptian Woman Eman Ahmed weighing 500 Kg gets Visa with help of Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, December 7, 2016: By External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj intervention a bed-ridden Egyptian woman weighing 500kg was on Tuesday granted visa by Indian Embassy in Cairo.

It was due to Eman's weight that she was prevented from pursuing her studies as due to weight gain she dropped out of school.

According to PTI, "36-year-old Eman Ahmed, a resident of port city of Alexandria, was issued the medical visa hours after a Mumbai- based bariatric surgeon requested Swaraj to help the woman travel to India for her treatment."

Swaraj tweeted in response to the request, "Thanks for bringing this to my notice. We will definitely help her."

A few hours later, Dr Muffi Lakdawala, who is a philanthropist, tweeted that Indian Embassy in Cairo granted visa to Eman, a resident of Alexandria.

Lakdawala said,"Embassy in Cairo called Visa granted.Thank you so much for this prompt response, impressed Appreciate the help @SushmaSwaraj."

He said Eman weighs 500 kg and has been refused the visa.
