Pakistan looks at green projects for Sikh shrines

Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur, considered as the most sacred shrines for Sikhs in Pakistan, will now be a part of green projects endorsed by Pakistan officials.
According to EcoSikh, a Washington based Sikh organization, the place will be celebrating Guru Nanak Dev's 550th birth anniversary in 2019 with different green projects plans.
The project envisions solar panels, organic farming, sacred forest areas, and creating awareness about the environment among local faith leaders, communities and the thousands of pilgrims visiting Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur every year.
Earlier, Ramesh Singh Arora, first Sikh member of the Punjab assembly in Pakistan had invited the president of EcoSikh, Rajwant Singh to visit Nankana Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib, and Narowal to look for the actions needed by communities and the administration to preserve the ecology of these sacred sites
