Power cost will be hiked in Bihar by 2.5 per cent from April

Residents of Bihar will have to pay more for electricity from April 1 as the state`s power regulator announced a 2.5 percent increase in the tariff on Monday.

The increase will be more for urban residents, who will have to pay 15 paise more per unit as compared to the rural residents for whom the increase will be of 10 paise per unit.

The rise in prices have been approved to bridge the gap of losses, Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) chairman UN Panjiar said. He also said that the hike was kept modest to not increase the burden on the people too much.
