After the ceaseless overnight rain, Met department in Kashmir Valley on Monday warned about the heavy rains and thunderstorms within 24 hours.

"Moderate to heavy rains would occur at most places in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours with thunderstorms, gusty winds and hailstorm at some places", Sonam Lotus, director of the Met Office said.

The temperature of Kashmir came down because of overnight rain. The minimum temperature has fallen to 7 degrees Celsius in Leh, 10 degrees Celsius in Srinagar, 20 degrees in Jammu on Monday.

Heavy rainfall is causing woes to the farmers and apple orchard owners. Farmers in Srinagar are worried about the weak barriers of Jhelum river, which were broken by flood last year. The barriers have not been fully fortified yet.
