Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, presented a written statement in the Rajya Sabha, stating that the government is "collecting information" on whether the files destroyed between May 2014 and February 2015 contained files related to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

As reported by TOI, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Trinamool Congress MP, had earlier put up the question to the home minster, "How many government files were ordered to be destroyed between May 2014 and February 2015 and the reasons thereof, whether any file relating to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was destroyed during that period, and if so, the reasons thereof?"

Rijiju replied to the query on May 13 stating that the government is still inquiring on the matter.

Last month, it was speculated that Netaji's files would be declassified, and full facts about his life would be placed out in the open.

PTI had reported Kiren Rijiju as stating that the earlier government had done only partial declassification of files related to SC Bose, and the current government would "definitely do what is needed to be done."
