Kalam’s last rites to be held in Rameswaram: Official

New Delhi: The last rites of former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will be held in his native town Rameswaram in Tamilnadu as per the wishes of the family members, defence ministry spokesperson Sitanshu Kar said on Tuesday.

"The last rites of the late president Abdul Kalam will be held at his native place Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu," Kar tweeted.

The body of the former president, who died on Monday in Shillong after he collapsed while delivering a lecture to students of the Indian Institute of Management-Shillong, was flown to New Delhi on Tuesday morning.
