Beirut: The Islamic State, which has gained control over Syria's ancient city of Palmyra, has targeted another ancient temple in the city according to "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights" that is monitoring the Syria conflict, as quoted in an Economic Times report.

The Temple of Bel that has been targeted is a Roman-era structure and at least a part of the structure has been destroyed, though the extent of damage is unknown.

This is a second temple that has been targeted by the IS within a month. On 25-August, the IS had blew up the ancient Baal Shamin temple using explosives.

The IS had captured the city of Palmyra in May and now has a tight control over the city including on all its channels of communication.
