With the Aam Aadmi Party government preparing a detailed plan to ease regulations on event management, organizing cultural, corporate and social events are all set to become simpler.

The multiple NOC regime that has been prevailing hitherto will now be replaced with speedy clearances through a single window without human interference.

Sources report that the capital had over the years earned the tag of being an event-unfriendly city. By revamping the approval system, the government hopes to attract more events to the capital.

As an initial step, the department of excise and entertainment tax on Friday put the process of approval of non-ticketed events online. This is expected to be extended to ticketed events by end of September.

A report prepared by excise commissioner Sanjay Kumar on easing of regulations around event management in the capital is now with the office of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for consideration. Apart from doing away with multiple NOCs, the report recommends that the state explores the possibility of online bank guarantees for security deposits.

The report also recommends the creation of a special force under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to monitor and keep vigil during events. "The force could be sustained through payments obtained from event organizers," it says.
