New Delhi: One of the two Indians, who were abducted in Libya's Sirte, managed to escape, according to reports received on Thursday by the Indian mission.
Sources said Pravash Ranjan Samal, who is from Odisha, escaped and called up one of his friends to say that he was safe.
Mr Samal, along with Andhra Pradesh resident Ramamurthy Kosanam, was abducted from Ibn-e-Sina in Sirte where they both were working.
In July, four Indian teachers were kidnapped in Libya allegedly by ISIS terrorists and the release of two of them was secured by the government.
The two other nationals remain in the custody of the terrorists.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup had said on Wednesday that abduction of the two Indians from Sirte has been taken up at diplomatic level.
Sirte is under the control of the Islamic State terror group, which is steadily expanding its influence in central Libya.
