Amethi: Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani challenged the Congress and its vice president Rahul Gandhi to put her behind bars on Sunday, after the party sent a legal notice to her.

"If the Congress and Rahul Gandhi have the guts, send me behind bars," Irani said while addressing a rally here.

The BJP leader said the Congress had served her a notice that action would be taken against her if she spoke against the party and the Gandhi family.

Irani said she was "not afraid" and was ready to face 100 such notices for raising the voice of the people.

"I will continue to raise the voice of the people of Amethi even from inside prison," the minister said.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee served a legal notice on the HRD minister for alleging that the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust had indulged in 'land grab' in Amethi.
