Truck mishap in Odisha: 9 killed, 15 injured

Bhubaneswar: In a truck accident in Odisha's Sundargarh district at least nine persons were killed and 15 others injured, police said on Sunday.

The accident occurred near Suarapalli on Lahunipara-Baharaposi road on Saturday evening. Sources said the driver lost control over the vehicle following which it overturned and fell off a small bridge.

Police said while three persons died on the spot, three others died on way to hospital. The injured were admitted to Ispat General Hospital.

The death toll could go up as several of the injured were in critical conditions, sources said.

Police said the mini-truck was carrying kabaddi players and their supporters of Sendhpur village in Bonai block.

Additional SP (Bonei) R.B. Panigrahi said police were inquiring into the incident.
