Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public rally in Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar on November 7, sources said on Thursday.

Sources in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) told IANS that this was disclosed by Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed during a party convention here on Wednesday.

The prime minister will address a public rally in Srinagar in the afternoon of November 7 during his daylong visit to the state, the sources said.

Modi will also inaugurate phase-2 of the Baghlihar hydro-electric power project in the Jammu region, the sources said, adding Modi is expected to announce a developmental package for the state.

We have high hopes from this visit. It is expected the prime minister will announce a development/flood relief package during this visit, the sources said.

This will be Modi's first visit to the Kashmir Valley after the present PDP-BJP alliance took power in the state on March 1, 2015.

Modi's last visit was on July 17 in connection with the birth anniversary of Congress leader, late Girdhari Lal Dogra.
