Delhi govt’s indifferent attitude made civil sanitation workers protest

New Delhi: The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) sanitation workers created an ugly scene outside the south zone office of EDMC on Saturday, as they went on a strike. This protest was organized by the sanitation workers who are demanding permanent jobs and protesting against the non-payment of wages and salaries.

The Central government's response to this protest was recorded in a statement made BJP president Satish Upadhyay "The Delhi government is not releasing funds for salaries. They have money for advertisement, to pay their employees but they do not have money for the poor safai karamcharis. They should avoid this kind of politics."

Not only this, the striking workers threatened to continue their protests across Delhi if their demands were not met. They were demanding permanent jobs, payment of arrears and cashless medical insurance.

The mayors of three different corporations met Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to discuss how to end the strike but with no result.
