Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping off her seventh-floor home last week in Mumbai over obscene messages on a fake Facebook account allegedly set up by a classmate.

The class 10 boy, who had been allegedly stalking the girl, has been arrested in the Maharashtra capital over the suicide of his classmate.

NDTV reported that when the girl's parents complained to the police in this regard recently, the boy was warned and let off by the police after being questioned for a while.

The boy thereafter allegedly set up a Facebook account in the name of the girl and posted obscene messages in a bid to avenge the police complaint.

Shocked and embarrassed to see obscene messages in her name, the girl allegedly jumped off her apartment building in Mira Road on October 20.

The accused boy has been sent to a juvenile home.
