New Delhi: Officials of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), are in talks with the madrasas nationwide for hoisting the flag and singing the national anthem on the eve of Republic day. They want the Muslim seminaries to remember the freedom martyrs from 1857 to 1947.

The Muslim Rashtriya Manch or the nationalist Muslim front have asked their area conveners to hold discussions with the madrasas in their areas.

The Manch's national leaders and state conveners will meet to discuss the details of the hoisting of flags in various madrasas in Varanasi on 20 and 21 January. Senior RSS official Indresh Kumar is the mentor.

At the recent RSS seminar held for the discussion on secularism, many members laid their views on the idea of representing different religions in the flag, saying "tricolor" as a reference to communalism.

The Manch wants the madrasas to hoist the flag on every republic day, stating "We want this practice to be routine, Madrasas should do this every year on January 26 and August 15," said Mohammad Afzal, the Manch convener, also confirming his presence at two madrasas on republic day.
