Indian national killed during shootout in Saudi Arabia

New Delhi: Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister, on Friday confirmed the killing of an Indian national by stray bullets during a shootout in Saudi Arabia.

According to the information received from the Indian embassy in Riyadh, she said that stray bullets hit four Indians during a shootout in a security operation in Awamia, in the Eastern Province of the kingdom, on Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, we lost Mohammad Avesh Khan of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh," she tweeted.

"One Indian is being treated in a local hospital," she added.

Indian mission has been in touch with the deceased's family.

"I have asked them to expedite matters and send his mortal remains at the earliest," she said.(IANS)
