PM Narendra Modi pays tribute on Vijay Diwas to soldiers who died during the 1971 India-Pakistan War

New Delhi, December 16, 2016: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tributes on Vijay Diwas to soldiers who died during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

"Vijay Diwas is a fitting reminder of the valour and sacrifice of all those who fought courageously in the 1971 war. Tributes to them," Modi said in a tweet.

Lt. General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, the then Eastern Command chief of the Pakistani forces, along with 93,000 troops surrendered unconditionally after conceding defeat India's Lt. General Jagjit Singh Aurora in Dacca (now Dhaka) on December 16, 1971.
