A 15-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her boyfriend in the Jahangirpuri area of northwest Delhi on 4 August 2025. Multiple rounds of shots were fired in the crowded market, leading to panic and chaos. The victim, who was shot, was immediately taken to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where she was declared dead on spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest Region), Bhisham Singh, said that the accused, who shot the young girl, has been identified as Aryan (20), and is believed to be a resident of Jahangirpuri.
According to the police, the victim was with one of her friends at the time. She had gone to the local market to buy some snacks.
“The incident took place around 8:10 p.m. in front of Dr K.K. Mahajan’s clinic in D Block of Jahangirpuri. The girl was accompanied by her friend, a resident of the same locality, when the accused approached her,” said a police officer.
Her friend was not injured during the shooting. The accused, Aryan, shot the victim four times. The victim also lived in the Jahangirpuri area. Her mother works as a house help, while her father resides in Uttar Pradesh.
Initial investigation has revealed that the shooter was known to the victim. The motive behind the crime is still under investigation. An officer stated that they are examining "personal angles" and ‘possible disputes” that could have been the motive behind the attack.
Aryan and his associate have been booked on charges of murder at the Jahangirpuri Police Station. Multiple teams have been deployed to apprehend the accused and his associate, who fled the scene after the shooting. Investigators are collecting CCTV footage for evidence and questioning witnesses who were present at the time of the incident.
"The victim’s friend, who was with her, is the key witness in the case," said an investigator.
“The body of the deceased has been preserved at the hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive and trace the weapon used in the crime,” said an officer. [Rh/Eth/VS]
