Iconic Ford Mustang to make India debut

Car lovers in India have something to cheer about. Ford is planning to bring its iconic pony car, the Mustang in India, an English newspaper reported.

Sources close to the firm suggested this thing on the sidelines of Ford's Sanand plant inauguration in Gujarat, the manufacturer has discussed the prospects of launching the Mustang in India. It could be available for sale in India by the coming festive season in 2015, quoted The Indian Express.

The Ford Mustang was first launched in 1964, and over the years, the power machine has passed through various transformations and established its status in the automotive world.

The Ford Mustang has a large number of following in western countries and the current generation beast is available in three petrol engine configurations- a 310PS, which produces 2.3 litre four-cylinder Eco Boost petrol, followed by a 3.7 litre V6 engine that develops 300PS and a 5.0-litre 435PS V8.

Ford is initially expected to bring the Mustang with the four-cylinder Eco Boost engine coupled to the automatic gearbox in fastback shape to India.
