Delhi is known for its free pass culture. As the national capital, it is home to many VVIPs, and that means free tickets for family and friends. But Arvind Kejirwal led government has decided to crackdown on this obnoxious habit of the elite.

Aam Aadmi Party government has put a blanket ban on free passes for MLAs and ministers, seeking free admission to high profile events using their official position. The Chief Minister has also asked his Principal Secretary to inform Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in case there is a request for the same.

The step has been taken after a delegation of the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) met Chief Minister and pointed out the problem of corruption in organizing an event.

"Why should the MLAs and ministers get free passes? They are just common people. During the earlier governments most of the free passes were taken by the ministers and MLAs. Now the CM has asked to stop this practice and I am sure no one will do such a thing again.' Vijendra Garg, MLA Rajindra Nagar told NewsGram.

"Kejriwal also directed that if anyone wishes to attend any event or concert then they can buy the tickets of the program and attend it," a senior official said.

Earlier the practice of obtaining free passes for events like IPL matches, plays etc was quite popular among the ministers.
