E-Gram panchayat programme: All 13,040 villages in Punjab now a click away

Chandigarh: Now all 13,040 villages in Punjab are just a click of the mouse away.

Rural Development Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said on Sunday the computerisation of all gram panchayats under Panchayati Raj Institution Accounting Software (PRIASoft), a national e-gram panchayat programme, has been completed.

Training has been provided to all panchayat secretaries.

He said websites of all Zila Parishads and block Samitis (Units) have been linked with of the state panchayat department website: www.pbrdp.gov.in.

Each panchayat websites contains details of famous personalities, popular and historical places while the panchayat department website has contact numbers, educational qualifications of its members and related information.

Other information available on panchayat websites include elected members of rural and urban local bodies, latest data of gram panchayats, mapped villages and distance of the village from the main cities. (IANS)
