In a series of measures taken to benefit acid attack survivors, the Aam Admi Party led Delhi Government has decided to provide employment to them. In addition to that, a committee has been formed to look into the issues faced by them as well.

Reportedly, this has been done in response to a representation from acid attack survivors, received by Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. These jobs might be permanent or contract based. Other details of this employment provision are yet to be officially announced.

According to a national daily, in March this year, Shaheen—who was attacked by a group of men in 2009—had asked chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, as to whether he had any plan for women like her.

Data available with the state government's social welfare department shows that there are around 35 acid attack survivors in Delhi.

Reportedly, the services department has been asked to invite applications from acid attack victims and consider these on a priority basis for any suitable vacancies, current or future.

"Depending on their qualifications, work experience and ability, jobs will be given to them. Some of them are impaired while some have mobility problems.", said Swati Maliwal, Advisor to CM.
