Kabul: A string of explosions took place close to the Afghan parliament complex and a fierce gun battle broke out on Monday, Xinhua reported.

'The blasts, according to local media, occurred next to the fortified entry gate of the parliament', Xinhua said.

According to reports, over six blasts rocked the area.
