Islamabad: Pakistan on Friday filed a complaint with the UN over what it called were "ceasefire violations" by India.
The Pakistan Army registered the complaint with the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) against alleged ceasefire violations by the Indian Army along the Line of Control and the international border, the Dawn reported.
The Pakistan Army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said: "The Pakistan Army highlighted India's use of heavy mortars and machine guns on civil population, living along the working boundary and Line of Control…."
It said: "UNMOGIP was asked to use its good offices to investigate Indian ceasefire violation."
An ISPR statement said four people in Pakistan were killed in the firing.
The UN Security Council passed a resolution in 1948 and established the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP).
After the termination of UNCIP, the Security Council passed another resolution in 1951 and established UNMOGIP to observe and report violations of ceasefire.
India has maintained that the UNMOGIP has outlived its utility.
There have been at least six violations of the 2003 ceasefire along India-Pakistan border in the last four days, with India maintaining Pakistan started the firing.
On Wednesday, a woman was killed and four people – two troopers and two civilians – were injured in indiscriminate shelling by Pakistan Rangers in Akhnoor sector.
Four villagers working in their fields were left injured in R.S. Pura near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistani firing on Thursday.
