At least 21 people, including children and women, were killed on Tuesday in military airstrikes in Syria's Aleppo city.

"Six children and women were among those killed when the Syrian air force hit several militant positions in the Manbij area, controlled by the Islamic State militants," Xinhua quoted the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying.

Several militants were also killed.

Earlier in the day, militants fired around 300 improvised rockets and mortar shells into Shia majority towns of Foa'a and Kafraya in northwestern Syria, killing seven people.
