Chandigarh: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday announced that a rope-way transport system between Dhaula Kuan in New Delhi and Manesar, passing through Gurgaon city in Haryana, adjoining the national capital, would be soon started.

"The estimated per km cost of this project would be Rs.50 crore as compared to Rs.350 crore per km of the Metro. Based on new technology, it would help in decongestion of traffic and provide facility to the people of Haryana and Delhi," Gadkari told a gathering after laying foundation stone of highway projects in Haryana's Sirsa town, 275 km from here.

Parts of Gurgaon are linked to Delhi through Delhi Metro. The expressway between Delhi and Gurgaon and further to Manesar on National Highway No. 8 (NH-8) sees huge traffic daily, especially in the morning and evening hours.
