New Delhi: Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party government did not take Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung's approval to appoint the new Delhi Commission for Women chief, an official at LG's office here said on Wednesday.

The LG's office also said Delhi government's appointment of Swati Maliwal was beyond the latter's power and authority.

"The Delhi government didn't take the required approval from the LG for appointing the new DCW chief. He (LG) has written a letter to the government calling the appointment ultra vires," said an official at Jung's office.

This is latest in a host of issues over which Jung and the state government have locked horns.

Maliwal, an RTI activist and wife of AAP leader Naveen Jaihind, took charge as the chairperson of DCW on Monday. (IANS)
