New Delhi: After serving 27 years in Indian Police Service, IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt has now been finally removed from service today. He was suspended in 2011, during which time he was posted in Junagarh, where he reportedly remained absent from his duty and that too without permission. In addition, it was also stated that he misused the official vehicle.

If speculations are to be believed, the officer has been sacked only because he went against the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi at the time of 2002 riots. Sanjiv Bhatt had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court blaming Modi for instructing the officers during the post-Godhra riots to allow Hindus to express their anger.

This can be a possible reason behind this sacking as only last month; CBI raided a human rights activist, Teesta Setalvad's house. She has been trying to prove that how Modi is responsible for the killings of over 1000 people at the time of Gujarat riots.

There can be multiple reasons behind this move though. Only few days before sacking him, he was served with a notice owing to a video clip highlighting his alleged relationship with an unknown woman. Though he kept denying the charges and insisted that the person in the video clip isn't him.
