The assault took place after one of the victims repaired a sewing machine at Jitender's house in Chandu village near Gurgaon and charged Rs.1,200 for the work. Jitender felt that the mechanic was duping women in the name of repairing sewing machines, as his wife's machine was not working properly even after the repairs. The victims were tied to a tree behind a hotel in Chandu and were beaten throughout the night of August 22. Police said Naved died following the beating, but Salim managed to escape. The accused dumped Naved's body in the Gurgaon water canal, but it has not yet been recovered. "We have registered the case based on Salim's statement and investigation is on," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar.
