Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association comes under scanner owing to an alleged multi-crore scam which involves some of its office bearers. The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Thursday ordered a CBI probe into the same.

A division bench of Chief Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice BL Bhat issued the investigation directive. According to reports, the scam also include the alleged involvement of Cricket Association's President Farooq Abdullah.

The JKCA scam made news in 2012 after reports made rounds that this exorbitant sum was rolled out for the promotion of the sport in the state but it was illicitly diverted to different accounts by the JKCA office bearers.

The order was passed in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed before the state high court by two local cricketers – Abdul Majid Dar and Nisar Ahmad Khan. The petitioners further pleaded that the local police's intrusion into the alleged fund scam would tamper with the prudence of the case owing to the political clout of the people JKCA stopped receiving funds from BCCI after the scam surfaced in 2012.
