Ban Ki-moon urges India, Pakistan to continue peaceful talks

United Nations: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged India and Pakistan to continue their peaceful dialogue, a media report said.

A statement issued by his office said that in a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the secretary-general also advised Pakistan to stay engaged with Afghanistan, Dawn reported on Monday.

A Pakistani official said Sharif also raised the issue of Kashmir during the meeting.

Both also spoke on fight against terrorism and violent extremism, the secretary general's office said.

The UN chief also encou­raged Pakistan to continue engaging Afghanistan in order to help stabilize the country, a UN spokesperson said.
