Shooting spree at San Bernardino leaves 14 dead

San Bernardino, California: A gruesome shooting spree incident at Inland Regional Center, San Bernardino left at least 14 people killed and several others injured on Wednesday afternoon.

Reportedly three persons barged into Inland Regional Center, a non-profit organisation that helps people with developmental disabilities and started indiscriminate firing.

Witnesses said, the culprits were heavily armed and fled in a black sports utility vehicle after the shooting spree.

Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation reached the spot and cordoned off the centre. Forensic teams and bomb disposal squads carried out combing operations in the area. have arrived at the scene.

Police resorted to a massive manhunt drive to nab the criminals. The fleeing SUV was however who confronted and a gunbattle ensued between the law enforcers and the suspect ensued. Two of the suspects were killed in the clash. One of the suspects was reportedly a woman.

The US media reported on Thursday that one of the suspects had been identified as Syed Farook.

Though Police did not elaborate much on the massacre, a high-powered probe was on to look into several possibilities, including workplace violence and terrorism.

The shooters attacked a holiday party on the campus of a social services agency. the rampage brought back chilling memories of the massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where 27 persons were gunned down in December 2012.
