Lucknow: Vice-chairpersons of all development authorities in UP have been directed to assist people by providing an online facility to address within a time limit.

Aiming to improve authorities' existing image, Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan advised authorities to develop their land banks and ensure necessary action for providing maximum residential facilities to the public at reasonable rates.

Alok Ranjan is a 1978 batch IAS officer who assumed office in 2014, replacing former chief secretary Javed Usmani. Usmani currently serves as the Chief Information Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh who was the Chief Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh from March 2012 to May 2014.

He said that review meetings would not be held on the basis of dates anymore, but rather on-the-spot physical inspection would be undertaken. Immediately after the review meeting, he undertook a surprise on-the-spot inspection of the under-construction Lucknow Haat Avadh Shilp Gram project and issued directions to complete it latest by April 2016.

Instructions have also been issued to senior officials of the housing development department that monthly progress of disposal of cases in Samadhan Diwas held on every Thursday by development authorities should be reviewed and apprised to senior officials.(IANS)
