November 30, 2016: Booking a cab with the help of an app can be a tricky task, especially when you don't have the app installed and you need a cab urgently. It is a time-consuming task. First, visit the app store, download the app, install it and then proceed to register or log in.

Understanding this problem, Uber has now allowed users to book cabs using a browser without installing the application. The feature is available in all the 29 cities where the company operates.

The Company's new feature, "Dial an Uber" lets people book a cab without downloading the application. To use this feature, follow these steps:

1. Open https://dial.uber.com in your phone.
2. Sign up or log in.
3. Enter your mobile number.
4. If automatic location detection does not work, enter your location in the search box or point on the map.
5. Request for a ride. After this, users are connected to call with the driver.
6. Pay the driver in cash after the ride is completed.

The company started testing this feature in August.

In India, where feature phones users are more than the Smartphone users, the feature will help Uber reach to millions of users. The move is aimed at emerging markets, where phones with low inbuilt storage and poor data connectivity issues need such solutions.

Head of Engineering in Uber India, Apurva Dalal, said in a press release, "Dial an Uber offers a convenient choice to customers looking to book a ride and is a testament to our focus on using our technological edge to make mobility reliable and accessible for everyone."
