Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be the future of humanity and so far it has proven to revolutionize many facets of human life. Education is one of them as AI relates to education and many people are doubting the relevance of education due to the rise of Chat GPT and other chatbots.

Chat GPT is the most popular AI tool with the most widespread usage. Today many students use the tool and contrary to what many people believe, using the tool does not mean always asking certain things directly. It requires a clear understanding and frame of mind, even when we are "dealing" with a chatbot.

How is the AI-bot changing the world of education?

It is a kind of artificial intelligence-powered language model whose focus is on generating textual responses that are coherent and closest to what the user wants. In many ways, the AI bot is like a source of knowledge that while it is "often right" it is not as simple as many people think.

Chat GPT is an AI tool and that means it is a tool that predicts possibilities with human-like thinking patterns but with the speed of computer calculations. That's why the tool is "lifelike" if questioned and as new versions are introduced it is very close to a "super real person who can answer questions".

AI tools are tools that predict things and they base their predictions on the data they are trained on. So the Open AI bot is pre-trained by billions or trillions of data on the Internet and it predicts answers from the possibilities that arise from that data. Simply put the AI tool is highly dependent on the data it was trained on, thus it is not perfect. It is a tool, really a tool, no matter how great it is at answering questions.

Positioning AI as a Digital Assistant

Education is the process of transferring knowledge to humans and it cannot be left solely to machines, however, technology has been proven to advance education even since ancient times. AI technology is a great technology that can have a great impact on education if used appropriately. In the context of using a chatbot, every student as well as teacher should have a clear and systematic frame of mind before they use the tool to provide certain information, otherwise they will only be misled into mere pieces of information. Of course, true education is not like that. True education is not about asking a machine something and getting an instant answer. Not at all.

Yes, every chatbot should be positioned according to its portion, which is as a digital assistant, nothing less and nothing more. Chat GPT is a tool and a tool cannot fully replace biological intelligence. Machine intelligence should not be geared toward replacing biological intelligence because it was created as a means of support.

As a digital assistant the tool should also not only be relied upon to provide instant answers but rather to provide a simpler yet all-encompassing teaching flow.

Based on the experiences of many students and teachers that we gathered we can state that the chatbot and other chatbots can give teachers and students the opportunity to optimize their time with AI as an assistant, an additional element that helps them organize ideas and save a lot of time.

It should be geared towards aiding understanding, rather than just providing instant answers. Students can use the tool to get a more detailed explanation of a topic and expand on it. Personalized learning that may have sounded utopian in the past can be realized by engaging chatbots.

Challenges and Opportunities

Today's challenge is to get students used to seeking additional explanations from Chat GPT, instead of using it to get instant answers. They have to be creative if they want to grow because if relying on the chatbot entirely is their best achievement then the education they are undergoing becomes irrelevant. Education is something that evolves and using a machine just for the final answer does not support education at all. They should also realize that the accuracy of every AI bot depends on the data they are trained on.

Conclusion

Ultimately it takes wisdom to use every AI tool in the classroom and despite all that, Chat GPT really is a great summarizing tool, which can provide coherent textual solutions. If used "properly", any AI tool will greatly help increase human productivity but of course humans are still humans and AI is still AI. Let's not let us humans be controlled by a bunch of algorithms that we ironically created ourselves.
