He shares this distinction with Barack Obama, Justin Beiber and Kim Kardashian, who were also on the Time magazine's most influential people on the internet list.

The magazine recognized the importance given by Modi to social media in reaching 200 million plus people in India and his unconventional ways of sharing important information through social media like the tweet informing Indians of Obama`s visit.

According to current ratings based on social media following, Modi is ahead of all the world leaders except Barack Obama who is the most-liked world leader on Facebook and the most-followed on Twitter.
