Mufti plans to release Ashiq Hussain Faktoo after Alam; BJP-PDP coalition in trouble

While BJP is having a hard time accepting the release of separatist leader Masrath Alam, J&K Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed is already on the front foot in batting for another separatist, Ashiq Hussain Faktoo`s release, sources at center revealed.

BJP has raised a lot of hue and cry criticizing the move to release political prisoners in the state, who do not have a criminal case against them. BJP`s Jammu chief Kavinder Gupta condemned the move and said that the BJP MLAs would take up the issue with the Chief Minister, as they were not consulted about the decision.

At a meeting between RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and BJP chief Amit Shah, the former cautioned the BJP man to tread carefully and not make any more compromises in the collation.

Ashiq Hussain Faktoo`s is the longest serving political prisoner in the state (22 years) who was arrested for the alleged involvement in the murder of human rights activist HN Wanchoo. Ashiq who was the former commander of the Islamist outfit Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen, has his case still pending in Supreme Court.
