SC seeks explanation form UP govt over teenager’s arrest for Facebook post against Azam Khan

Supreme Court today sought an explanation from Uttar Pradesh Government regarding the arrest of a schoolboy for allegedly posting objectionable comments about Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Facebook.

Senior counsel Soli Sorabjee raised the issue in front of the Supreme Court bench of Justice J. Chelameswar and Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman. He the question about the State Government's motive behind arresting a teenager for allegedly posting objectionable comments about a state minister under Section 66A of Information Technology Act.

The SC has given four weeks to the Government to respond.

The boy was granted bail, on Thursday.
