Indian economy’s pace unsatisfactory: Chidambaram

Author : NewsGram Desk

New Delhi: Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said on Tuesday that the present pace of the Indian economy will neither create any jobs nor it will help the country in coming out of poverty. Addressing the Congress' Chief Ministers during a meet here, the Congress leader said, "Although impression to the world is that India is growing at 6-7 percent, the concern is it will not create jobs and make no dent in poverty."

He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of not supporting Congress ruled states. "They are not providing enough funds to state governments to continue the ongoing programmes," he added.
