Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened the second meeting of the NITI Aayog on July 15 in which the land acquisition bill is expected to be discussed, sources said on Saturday.

The meeting is being seen as an attempt by the government to break the deadlock over the controversial bill that has been opposed by the Congress.

Apart from giving their views on the bill, the chief ministers who will attend the meeting are expected to raise issues concerning farmers.

The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Second Amendment Bill, 2015) has been referred to a joint committee of both houses of parliament under the chairmanship of BJP member from West Bengal S.S. Ahluwalia.

It will be the NITI Aayog's second governing council meeting. The first meeting was held on February 8 in which sub-groups were constituted.
