Srinagar: Three Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel were injured on Friday as guerrillas in a vehicle fired on a police check-post on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway, police said.

"Police at a 'Naka' (checkpost) at Mirgund on the highway today (Friday) evening flagged down a vehicle. But instead of stopping, militants inside it opened fire at the police and sped away," a senior police officer told IANS.

"Sub Inspector Saleem, in-charge of Mirgund police post, and two other personnel were injured in the attack," he said, adding reinforcements have been sent to the spot.
