Typhoon Goni hits Philippines, 10 dead

Manila: At least ten people were killed and seven injured after typhoon Goni hit the Philippines, the state disaster management agency said on Sunday.

Over 12,800 people have been displaced due to the typhoon that hit the country on Friday, Xinhua news agency reported.

The fatalities came from Mountain province, Benguet and Ilocos Norte.

Three people are still missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

Locally known as Ineng, the typhoon is expected to leave the country by Tuesday.
