New Delhi: Narendra Modi government is working hard to sort out all technical and financial obstacles before 28-August, so that it may announce OROP on the day, during the celebration of 50th anniversary of 1965 War.
Government is holding serious negotiations with the military veterans and has brought in Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag to act as an intermediary during the negotiations, according to a report in Times of India.
Meanwhile, Havildar (retd) Ashok Chauhan, who was on a fast for the last 8 days, was taken to the hospital. On Monday, another veteran Colonel (retd) Pushpendra Singh was also admitted to the hospital. But, Havildar (retd) Major Singh, who has not taken any food from 18-August, refused to be admitted to the hospital.
It is estimated that if OROP is implemented in its full, then it would cost around 8,300 crore rupees per year and is going to benefit around 25 lakh military veterans.
