One killed, four injured in Pak shelling

Jammu: In another act of unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistani forces, one civilian was killed and four others were injured on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
"One civilian was killed and four others were injured in an indiscriminate shelling on the LoC by Pakistan Army in Poonch district," a senior official was quoted as saying in winter capital Jammu.

The official said the injured are being shifted to hospital for treatment.

Although, the number of civilian casualties on the Indian side was not confirmed by the Defense spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta, but he said that the Pakistani Army is using 120 mm mortars while violating the ceasefire in Poonch district.

Heavy shelling and firing exchanges between the two armies are continuing in the area now, reports said.

On Sunday night, Pakistan had used 82 mm mortars, RPGs and automatic weapons to target Indian positions.

"Pakistan shelling and firing started at 11 pm on Sunday," Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said.

"Our troops are effectively and appropriately responding. Intermittent firing exchanges continued till Monday morning," he added.
