Unprovoked shelling continues on LoC

Jammu: Pakistan army on Wednesday resorted to firing at Indian positions on the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu region, in an another instance of rapid ceasefire violation.

Police officials informed that this is the third such violation of ceasefire by Pakistan in 48 hours in the same sector. A senior police officer told, "In the early hours of morning today (Wednesday), Pakistan army used 82 mm mortars and automatic weapons to target Indian positions on the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district."

"Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Balakot sector using automatics yesterday (Tuesday) from 6.30 p.m to 9 p.m. Today (Wednesday) in Krishna Ghati sector, they have been using 82 mm mortars and automatics from 7.10 a.m.," defence spokesperson Lt. Col. Manish Mehta said.

"The shelling and firing is continuing. We have responded appropriately and effectively. No casualty has been so far reported from our side. Pakistan army also fired 120 mm mortar and RPGs at Indian positions," he told.
