Srinagar: Two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants, Burmee and Adil Pathan, hailing from Pakistan occupied Kashmir, were gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday.

A police officer said that the gunfight ensued after a patrol party of the state police's SOG (special operations group) was fired upon in Hari village near Tral town in Pulwama in the afternoon.

Security forces including the SOG and troops of 42 Rashtriya Rifles engaged in a pitched gunfight with the militants to prevent their escape, he said.

He said searches were going on in the area for other militants.
