Kokata: The First edition of Apeejay Bengali literary fest in collaboration with Oxford Book Store and Patravarati showcased the importance and relevance of Bengali literature in the minds of people.

The scholars who attended the program spoke on varied topics including how Bengali literature can be revived in this global arena.

Eminent Bengali scholar Sirshendu Mukherjee said, "the Bengali literature will be at its place and globalization will actually help the literature to enrich." He added "everyday more than 500 words are added in the English literature. Bengali words like adda, dhana have already been added to English literature. With time the language and literature will change but Bengali literature's relevance will stay forever."

Speaking on the inclusion of slangs in the literature, Samaresh Mazumdar blamed the society and attributed it to the decay of the society at large. He also slammed a Bengali newspaper

Khobor 365 for their use of cheap language. The other eminent scholars like Bani Basu, Ullas Mullick, Imdadul Haque Milan and Tilottoma Mazumdar also discussed about the different perspectives of Bengali literature and how it will keep pace with the global world.
