New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a book written by Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra, "The Z Factor", at his official residence 7, Race Course Road.

The prime minister described Chandra as a person who always cared for the weaker sections of society. He recounted some anecdotes about his earlier interactions with Chandra, said an official statement.

"Writing such a book can be risky but it is the nature of Subhash Chandraji to take risks. I knew Subhash Chandraji's father very well," the PMO India tweeted quoting Modi as saying.

"I always urge students to read biographies. Reading them makes the reader closer to the historical context of that age," Modi added.

Chandra, who is referred to as a media mogul, launched the country's first satellite Hindi channel Zee TV in 1992 and later the first private news channel, Zee News. (IANS)
