‘Jashn-e-Azadi’ events in Uttar Pradesh to recall freedom fighters

August 13, 2016: Uttar Pradesh the most populated state in the Republic of India calls to celebrate its freedom fighters. This call to action is their tribute to all who have given their life fighting in the name of justice and freedom.

On the occasion of 70th Independence Day, a two-day cultural programme titled 'Jashn-e-Azadi' would be held across Uttar Pradesh, an official said on Saturday.

Using different mediums and forums, tributes would be paid to various freedom fighters and revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for the country, secretary Culture, Hariom, informed IANS.

He said Uttar Pradesh had made significant contributions in the freedom struggle of the country right from 1857 to 1947 and this year the heroes in the 90 years of freedom struggle will be showcased through various mediums to educate people of the unparalleled contribution of the state in India's freedom.

Some of the revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for the country include Mangal Pandey, Rani Laxmibai, Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqullah Khan.

Exhibitions will also be held at various places in the state — Lucknow, Varanasi, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Agra and Faizabad, Hariom said. (IANS)
