Los Angeles, Dec 17, 2016: The 10 contenders that will advance in the visual effects category at the 89th Academy awards are- "The Jungle Book", "Arrival" and Harry Potter spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".

"The BFG", "Captain America: Civil War", "Deepwater Horizon", "Doctor Strange", "Kubo and the Two Strings", "Passengers" and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"- are among the others.

Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 24 with final ceremony slated to take place on Sunday, February 26, 2017
